Valkyrie by Silent-7 Valkyrie by Silent-7
"Eyes of Judgement" (Valkyrie and Sword)

"In Norse mythology, the Valkyrie is one of a host of female figures who decide who wins and dies in battle."
Instead of focusing on the usual female figure, I wanted to focus on the eyes which will judge the warrior's soul (sword).

Very cool design! I'm afraid the image will exceed the contest's print-area limitations, but I do personally like that it reaches onto both sleeves. One thing to consider in future designs is that when worn, these kinds of layouts can have a "bra" look to them that turn potential customers away. I know this because I've bought several shirts with a similar layout and ended up not wearing them any more when I realized the resemblance. lol. It's a simple fix to move the design higher up on the chest, though. Good luck in the contest, and keep making awesome designs! =)

Thanks so much for your input!
I do love getting insightful critiques like yours. It really helps in figuring out and correcting potential problems in the future.

Yes, I do see what you are saying, I didn't realize about the "bra" effect until after submitting it.

I did think about shrinking the design so that it wouldn't go over the chest area, but I went against that because I thought that would have been too small to see clearly. If I had a bit more time I would have submitted the layout designs for the sleeves, and a close up of the design.

Heh, thanks for taking the input so well! I always worry about offering critiques, as I don't want to offend, but I do hope it helps! =)

Interesting, though I wonder how the design would lay out on the shirt if it was printed like this.. The black stuff leaving from the eyes exceed the chest area and go ontop of the sleeves.. I wonder how it would look in nature !

I wish I had submitted different views of the T-shirt to give you more clarity.

I originally intended for the wings to stay within the chest area, but I though it looked to small.

Yeah I know what you mean.. I've designed quite a few shirts and it always feels like the space is very limited.. If you give the design more width, then the overall size seems to grow smaller ;<

Very unique way to depict the Valkyrie! I've always found them to be a very interesting part of Norse lore. I really like how the design extends to the sleeves. And in a way the sword almost looks like a nose from afar :) Voted!
